Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU), 16th Psychology Days event was organized with “The Integration of Technology in Psychology” theme. Held at EMU Mustafa Afşin Ersoy Hall, 2-day event brought experts in psychology and students together.
Organized in cooperation with EMU Psychology Students Club and EMU Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Department of Psychology, the said event commenced with opening speeches by the Chair of Psychology Students Club İldem Mete, the Chair of EMU Department of Psychology Prof. Dr. Fatih Bayraktar and EMU Vice Rector for Academic Affairs Prof. Dr. Osman Karatepe.
Following the opening speeches of the first day, Assist. Prof. Dr. Funda Yıldırım made a presentation titled “Exploring Virtual Reality’s Role in Social and Sensory Decision-Making” in English language, Doctor and Senior Instructor Dilay Z. Karadöller delivered her “My Sing App: Supporting Language Acquisition of Deaf Children With Hearing Parents” presentation both in English and Turkish, Doctor and Senior Instructor Burçin Akın Sarı delivered a presentation titled “Assistive Use of Technology in Psychological Treatment: Mobile Phone Applications” in Turkish, “Graphs as a Technology for Data Analysis” by Prof. Dr. Neville Blampied in English language, “Utilising Telehealth Technology to Carry Out Behaviour Therapy for Sleep Problems in Children With Autism and Rare Genetic Neurodevelopmental Conditions” by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Karyn France in English and lastly, “The Role of Virtual Reality in Social and Emotional Decision-Making Processes” by Assist. Prof. Dr. Funda Yıldırım in Turkish. Within the scope of the first day program, a workshop titled “Electroencephalography” with the guidance of Assist. Prof. Dr. Çığır Kalfaoğlu was held in English and Turkish.
A series of presentations were also delivered on the second day of the event: “Online Adaptation Study of the Revised Version of the Addenbrooke's Cognitive Examination (ACE-R) Turkish Form” delivered by Assist. Prof. Dr. Yasemin Sohtorik İlkmen in Turkish language, “Assessment of Cognitive Performance through Brain Stimulation and EEG” by senior instructor Hatice Ülseven in Turkish, “Meet the Robot: Our Perception of Robotic Technology and Beyond” by Assist. Prof. Dr. Junko Kanero in English, “Perception of Social Robots and the Consequences of Interaction” by Assist. Prof. Dr. Merel Keijsers in English and, “Ethics in Content Creation and Visibility for Psychologists” by Specialist Psychologist Suzi Amado in English and Turkish. Following the presentations, a debate titled “Online Psychotherapies can be carried out vs Online Psychotherapies cannot be carried out” organized by Idea and Debate Club- Debate Team took place. Within the scope of second day’s event program, “The Role of Eye Tracking Methods in Visual Perception Research” workshop, led by Assist. Prof. Dr. Funda Yıldırım, was held.
The 16th Psychology Days concluded with a Certificate Ceremony and Closing Remarks.
