Top ranking schools, 20 Temmuz High School and 19 Mayıs Turkish Maarif College, competed with each other in the semi-final round followed by Güzelyurt Turkish Maarif College in the third place in the semi-final round of the competition. Güzelyurt Turkish Maarif College received the ‘28th Year Special Award’.
Organized by the Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) Arts and Sciences Faculty, Department of Mathematics with the contributions of Onal Fadıl Demirciler Education and Science Foundation, the 28th High School Mathematics Competition’s semi-final round was held with the participation of Bülent Ecevit Anatolian High School, Güzelyurt Turkish Maarif College, Iskele Evkaf Turkish Maarif College, 19 Mayıs Turkish Maarif College and 20 Temmuz High School. As a result of a very exciting and competitive semi-final round;
- 20 Temmuz High School team consisting of Mahmut Rahmi Soykan, Ege Gören and İrem Yılmaz, guided by their teachers Sultan Baturay and Sinem Çiçekçi, completed the round in FIRST place,
- 19 May Turkish Maarif College team consisting of Barış Asit, Arda Duman and Muhammed Yusuf Yorulmaz, guided by their teacher Ahmet Kasabalı, completed the round in SECOND place, earning the right to compete in the finals of the competition.
Furthermore, Güzelyurt Turkish Maarif College team consisting of Miray Akgün, Başak Ağdere and Meryem Binatlı, guided by their teachers Ayten Arısoy and Özlem Özyönüm Hocaoğlu, completed the semi-final round in THIRD place, receiving the ‘28th Year Special Award’.
In an award ceremony held after the competition, successful schools were presented with plaques and, students and teachers were presented with certificates of participation by the Chair of EMU Department of Mathematics Prof. Dr. Nazım Mahmudov and department academic staff members Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Aktuğlu and Assist. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kara.
The final round of the competition will take place on Wednesday, 08 May 2024 at 02:30 p.m. at Mustafa Afşin Ersoy Hall located in the EMU Central Lecture Halls building.
