Published Date: Thursday, 3 January 2019

We would like to introduce to you our new faculty member who joined the Department of Mathematics this year: Dr. Arran Fernandez

Dr. Fernandez completed his university training at the University of Cambridge, United Kingdom, where he started in 2010 as the youngest student in the university and completed his bachelor's, master's, and doctoral studies in mathematics, in 2013 becoming the youngest ever to come top in the Cambridge mathematics finals.

His main areas of research are in fractional calculus, a generalization of the usual calculus which has expanded rapidly in recent decades with many applications throughout the sciences, and in analytic number theory, a challenging branch of mathematics which contains many famous unsolved problems.

Within these topics, he has many currently ongoing projects, including various further generalizations and extensions of fractional-calculus operators, methods for analyzing fractional differential equations, and fractional expressions for zeta functions.

We welcome Dr. Arran Fernandez to our faculty!
