New Faculty Member Assist. Prof. Dr. Burcu Kaya Kızılöz

We would like to introduce to you our new faculty member who joined the Department of Psychology this year: Assist. Prof. Dr. Burcu Kaya Kızılöz.

Dr. Kaya Kızılöz completed her bachelors in the Department of Psychology at Bogaziçi University, Turkey (2007) and did her MA in cognitive psychology (2013) at the same university focusing on canonical categories in flashbulb memories. Dr. Kaya Kızılöz also completed her Ph.D. at Boğaziçi University (2018) focusing on the cognitive processes and memory in depression.

During her M.A. and Ph.D. years she was a research assistant in the Autobiographical Memory Lab and worked on autobiographical memory and cognitive processes of visually impaired individuals, people diagnosed with obsessive-compulsive disorder and depression.

Dr. Kaya Kızılöz’s past academic posts include teaching roles at Bilgi, Acıbadem and Boğaziçi Universities.

Her main area of research is a memory, although she has a keen interest in the cognitive processes of psychological disorders. She describes herself as a bookworm with a special place in her heart for fantastic fiction!
