EMU TRANSLATION & INTERPRETING DEPARTMENT’S DOCUMENTARY FILM DAYS MARKED ITS 5th YEAR

Now in its 5th year, EMU Translation and Interpreting Department's Documentary Film Days ended with the screening of Discovery Channel's documentary "Iceland". The screenings of ten documentary films, which were translated into Turkish by the Department's senior students, took place between 16th and 24th May 2016.

This year, the theme of the event was "A TRIBUTE TO ISLANDS", with each documentary exploring the unique lives of islanders.

The documentary films were transcribed, translated  and captioned by Görsel Monargalı, Buğra Etikan, Ömer Bor, Ayşe İnsan, Sevinç İnsan, Ziya Mert, Hulusi Özyahyalar, Aziz Şenol Tuncay, Affet Aksakallı and Gizem Dönmez. Before each screening, the senior students gave informative presentations on the audiovisual translation process of the films.

The coordinator of the department and supervisor of the projects, Neslihan Binatlı Hekimoğlu said "I'm proud of my students and their achievements. Once more our event has proved that our distinctive education programme continues to produce highly qualified translators and interpreters."
